The telephone rings.
"Hello?" Christine answers.
Suddenly, the TV screen turned static and a high pitch crackle filled the room. Christine grit her teeth and plugged her ears, grabbed the remote and turned off the TV.
"Sorry about that!" Christine laughed, as she put the phone to her ear. The line cut, interupting her speech, leaving only the dial tone.
She stood up, out of her seat, she turned around sharply, dropping the phone to the sound of a steel gate creaking open.
Christine approached the window cautiously, she drew the curtains back, only slightly, staying hidden, she peered out, witnessing the gate swinging back and forth, squeaking in the winds of late afternoon, as the night was fading in.
"Christine... Christine!" A panicked voice, panted down the phone, "Christine, are you there?" The caller inquired, as the phone dangled, by its cord, from the end table.
Christine's hands trembled, as she put the phone to her ear. "Jeremey?" Christine's tone of voice was smothered by the crackle of the line breaking up.
"Christine...(crackle, crackle)...Don't...(crackle, crackle)... Can you?..." Jeremey struggled to speaked but the line broke up.
"Jeremey?" Christine panicked "Jeremey!"
Christine turned round and gasped.
Her shriek disturbed the crows on a nearby tree, it echoed throughout the neighborhood.
"Christine Moore was found dead at 9:30pm last night, Police found her hung by a phone cable..."
