Why care about a child's short story?

Why care about a child writing a short story? Because the activity is full of benefits and you can learn a lot about how they feel. It's also rewarding for you to see what happens when they react well to something they had to work at.

I am the father of two great boys, and I coached hundreds of kids between the ages of 4 and 12 for 10 years. Unfortunately, a couple of sports incidents have left me with a bad back and a damaged knee.

Coaching is behind me now, but I used to really look forward to getting involved with the kids because of each child's unique reaction to situations. I realize now how much I miss it all. So when asked "why care?" I just keep it simple and say "because I like to explore how kids learn, and how they react to the world around them".

Each day I was faced with fluctuating moods, family squabbles, over energetic shin kickers, many other childhood distractions, you name it. Most of the time you just have to talk with them not at them.

Approaching each situation takes a little planning and even experimentation. Getting and holding your child's attention is vital in the whole exercise. It's also very handy if unbiased parenting comes to you in a natural way. It's easier for some.

The Internet offers a world of wonder for young viewers. Be sure you protect them from that which you can't otherwise control. Consider checking out PC-TattleTale Software by clicking here!

On a related note, I also have a genuine interest in world-wide technological events that affect our children and the future of everyone in general. If you would like to read some of my rantings about technology and the world, please visit my personal blog Scouring the Planet.
