Who said that

by Reggie, age 13
(Seattle, Washington)

Last month my Uncle Bob came to visit for a couple of weeks. He's done that before. About every few years anyway. This time he brought his new pet. It' a Myna bird called Stutter. It doesn't really stutter, like his name, but he does repeat lots of stuff you say.

A week ago Uncle Bob and my parents went out looking for a place for him to live. I stayed home to mind the house and watch Sutter. He's in a cage but it's fun to talk to him.

Then someone came to the door and rang the bell. I asked who it was and when they yelled back it sounded like my firend Alex. I opened the door but it wasn't Alex. It was someone asking for a donation for the diabeateeze fondasion and I can't do that. I just told her what my dad always says, 'gave at the office'.

That night at dinner, everyone was talking and having a good time. Later when mom was serving dessert, Uncle Bob started talking about some project he was working on and then asked mom and dad for some money and, yup, Stutter answered just in time... gave at the office.
