Amy Rentere was watching TV in the living room, one stormy night, while her parents were gone. She was watching an old horror movie, sitting on the couch, eating popcorn, with her dog Whisper at her feet. All of a sudden, Whisper started to bark. "What is it boy?" Amy asked. "Aaaaaaaahhh!" A scream suddenly rang out, surprising Amy who spilled the popcorn all over her lap.
Amy started laughing then, "Oh, it was just the TV!" But as she watched she heard it again, and it was not coming from the TV. It was coming from her basement. Shaking, Amy walked down the stairs to the basement. She turned the knob on the door, which squeaked as she opened it. All of a sudden, a terrible hiss arouse from inside the cobweb filled room.
Amy screamed and tried to run but it seemed as if something was pulling her back. "Whisper!' she screamed, "Help me!" She was dragged into the room, her arms failing to pull her out of the darkness that began to enclose around her. The door shut with a loud bang, as Amy fought and struggled to be free. She finally gave one last burst of power and flew out of the gruesome hands of darkness, into a corner of the basement.
As her eyes became accustomed to the dark, she could just barely make out the figure of a man, no wait, an animal, or was it a man? She cowered into her corner, listening to the thing grunt and groan as it tried to find her. Suddenly it let out a large shriek and began to crawl towards her corner. Just as Amy thought that this was the end, a loud splintering sound came from the door, and three figures appeared. They seemed to be fighting the creature, until it lay on the ground, lifeless.
"Amy?" Her father's voice rang out in the stillness of the basement. A light was turned on, and her parents and Whisper rushed over to help her up. They hugged her and began to lead her up the stairs, when she looked back. The figure of a deformed man lay on the ground. It was none other than the town lunatic, who they all called Crazy Tom.
Amy walked slowly up the stairs to her room, where she promised she would never go into the basement again.
