I'm so Happy That My Dad's Alive

My dad and I when he was in the hospital
Last year was the worst year of my life. It all happened in December of '06. You see, my dad is a sports official, and he was down in Oregon refereeing a basketball game. He was running down the court and all of a sudden he started shaking. He was having a seizure.
He was sent to the hospital in Vancouver to be treated. He was talking to my mom, and as they were talking, he went into another seizure. The last words my parents said to each other for a while was, "I love you."
The doctors thought it might be a brain tumor or even worse... cancer. He had surgery two times and they finally got rid of the infection he had on the right side of his brain, which caused him to be paralyzed on the right side of his body.
We spent Christmas and New years at the hospital, but all that anybody could do was cry all the time which made us cry even harder. It was really hard on all of us. He went to therapy for the next two months to get better at walking again, which he did, but every once in a while, he starts to feel a little numb on the right side of his body.
He's had about four or five seizures since last year, but that's just because he forgets to take his medicine every once in a while. We have had a lot more problems since then with money because of all the money we had to pay the hospital for bills, but we get through them as a family.
